Cottage Rocker

How long have you been around?

Got a test for you.....

Do you remember one of my most pinned and shared and featured transformations?

Let me give you a hint.

It is when I introduced you to the word....."BU-GLY".

Taking an old outdated piece and giving it new life.

Did you guess this piece?

If you didn't know...click "here" , you will love this transformation.

Guess what I found?

Another precious "bu-gly" baby!

It almost makes you feel sorry for it, doesn't it?

A little Ce Ce's paint...drop cloth slip covers for the cushions and finish with some left over "Mustard Seed" curtain fabric for the piping and.......

Wah Lah!

Seriously! Do you love it!? It is the neatest rocker. So sturdy and comfy, you wouldn't believe it! If you can keep the old cushions, it is so worth it because they are so comfortable!

Look at the cottage style details! That is what I call them anyway.

Think it is living a better life?

Here, let me refresh you.

Before....

After.....

Be still my heart.

I think I am in love.

What about you?

Like?

Love?

Think it should have stayed in the 70's?

Let me know!

Love,

Me

  5. I had the whole set that went with that rocker in the 70's and I'm not ready to see it gain in any color! Maybe the younger ones who don't remember it will like it!

  6. Awesome repurpose project. I would have thought the only use for that 70s furniture would be for burning in a fire pit! I love it!! Jill

  7. I so envy you. I am heartbroken today because I actually saw a similiar chair sitting on the side of the road. I so wanted it - but we were on our way to an event and there was no room in the car. Had to pass it by. I cried all the way. Your chair is gorgeoud!

  8. I love what you did with the chair. Good choice not to leave it. Robyn

  9. You are a miracle worker. Velvet cushions? I had a similar velvet sofa, but my son was an infant and didn't keep any formula down. You get the none too lovely picture as to why it went curbside. But it was so sturdy. It was being hastily put in a pick-up within the hour, lol. Cushions were attached and no one would steam clean velvet. Hope they had better luck than we did. Your slipped chair is bootiful. Janet

  10. We totally own that chair's cousin.

The fabric is slightly less offensive because the background is mostly brown, but they are definitely related! We can never part with this chair because it is co-owned by our cat. She loves it in all its covered-in-brown-blankets glory!

I could handle the painting, I'll just have to find someone who can sew!

  14. It looks so much better, I can never get over what a paint transformation does for a piece. It's really a great piece now that it's been painted, I love rockers, could sit in them all night. It was so ugly and now it a charmer. Thanks for sharing all your creative inspiration over at Sunday's Best!
