I picked it up today.
Yes, today.
It was A DEAL on Craigslist.
The young lady told me that I would need help to move it.
I said I had my hubby.
She said, "You will probably need three people."
I said...."With a dolly?"
She said, "Yes."
I said, "With the drawers out?"
She said, "Yes."
I said, "OK."
I thought she was crazy.
I enlisted Freebird to go with us.
She did.....
The Craigslist lady was right.
This is the heaviest dresser in the planet.
The WHOLE planet.
It is a Klaussner.
You heard me.....
KLAUSSNER.
Klaussner = really good deal on Craigslist.
I had no clue until we googled Klaussners when we got home and took some ibuprofens for our backs.
Klaussner Carturra Dresser with Mirror Combo
$1,326.70Pretty good deal, don't you think? Ours came with a mirror as well but I have other plans for it.....
Back to what to call this dresser.
When I saw the Craigslist ad, the center doors made me immediately think of all the Union Jack dressers.
So, I considered it for A STEAL OF A DEAL.
Then it made me think of barn doors.
So, I considered if for A STEAL OF A DEAL.
Then Freebird said she would help us move it.
So, I bought it for A STEAL OF A DEAL.
I put it in our brand new shop.
We are super fancy now.
Don't be jealous.
It was calling for rain today and tomorrow but I really wanted to get some painting done so we improvised.
Go Gamecocks!
With my new shop set up, chalk paint and a sanding block transformed my Union Jack/Klaussner/Barn Door/Craigslist dresser.
Want to see the transformation?
Is that cottage chic or what?
Klaussner all the way, isn't it?
Union Jack at its best?
Barn door precious?
Any of the above?
Well then, what would you call it?
Before.....
After.
Besides a "steal of a deal".
I can't wait to hear what you come up with!
Like?
Who can tell what is missing on this dresser?
It is in my purse....
Just so you know.
Talk to me!
Love,
Me

besides a knob? a beautiful home to surround it.
ReplyDeleteYou guessed it.......Now I need the home owner to buy it. : ) Love, Me
DeleteLooks like a knob is missing on one drawer! And I think I'd go with chesterdrawers. (that's the hillbilly talking). I was grown and in college before I knew how to say that correctly!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, this cracked me up! I have laughed so much at this. Love, Me
Delete$20 bucks!!? Lucky dog! That's an awesome deal. You made it look so good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Lucky day.....love, Me
DeleteYou always find the best deals on Craigslist! It looks REALLY good chester drawers it is for me.
ReplyDeleteWasn't "chesterdrawers" funny? Michelle cracked me up on that one. Love, Me
Deleteawesome. gorgeous. beautiful. i absolutley want it for my dining room and if you were in cali i would have it. Craigs is the bomb of all bombs for businesses like ours
ReplyDeleteWish you were closer. Bet we could have some Craigslisting fun...plus, I would maybe have sold my dresser. ; ) Love, Me
DeleteOk - so I'm the odd one out here. I imagine you will sell this to someone who loves this look. But for me, it has been ruined. Sorry, but I so prefer the original wonderful wood of this antique piece. But I'm just programmed that way by a lifetime of living with 'old' real wood (not fiberboard) furniture, much of it inherited from grandparents and parents. I might call this a sideboard, of the type you put the extra food dishes on when serving a huge family meal. We once had one we used for storing all the family games.
ReplyDeleteAnita, you are so honest! I love it! I usually am right with you on wood. This was actually a new piece...still had the mirror for a dresser and the wood in person wasn't pretty like old wood. I love having your honest opinion and LOVE that you give it! It does remind me of a sideboard too because it is "narrower" than a normal dresser. Thanks for your input and ALWAYS love hearing from you. Love, Me
Deletei love that! cool design! and how nice you didn't have to measure and tape and measure again....
ReplyDeleteWhat a sharp looking dresser! I love the details!
