An end table that I almost passed up.

There are many times that I am told......"I wish I could find awesome stuff like that at my thrift store or Craigslist!"

To which I reply.

"You can".

And I mean it.

Because I know that I do not live in a magic place.

Your pieces are there....you just have to "see" them.

And....

I bet you pass by them a million times.

Betcha' one dollar.

Because I almost did it myself the other day and I would have missed out on this little cutie.

He....it is a "he" table....."he" wasn't super ugly....just so plain and not detailed that I thought it wouldn't give me the look I would want.

But he was cheap.....so I looked harder.

And boy am I glad I did.

This little table was in the big batch that I shared in my "Work station 101 post".

He was popped out with these pieces and a few more......

I used the same red that I used on my "perfect" red pieces. You can see them "here" and "here".

Little bit of info.

When I paint pieces with latex paint.......

Most of the time, I do not use primer.

I use two coats and distress away and just finish the top with wax.

I like the wood to peep through when I distress.

Do not make it too complicated when you are distressing. I did that when I first started. I worked too hard to make the paint perfect. Then I distressed it.

DUH?

It only took me about fifty pieces to figure it out.

I'm quick like that.

So, learn from my doofiness. Keep it simple.

It makes it possible to get a ton of pieces out at one time.....

I also did a tutorial on how I distress and wax my pieces with latex paint "here". Check it out!

So glad I didn't miss this piece.

Could you be missing yours?

Look closely.

Don't let it pass you by.

So what do you think?

Like the pretty end table?

It could be used in so many ways!

Nightstand, end table......it is in my booth but I keep thinking about how good it would look in my guest room.

I have painted all of these pretty red tables and I haven't kept a single one.

Strong?

Or stupid?

Talk to me people!

Love,

Me

  1. I love it! That is definitely the perfect red and I'm so glad you said that about distressing things. I have done the same thing...spent tons of time painting it perfectly only to go and distress it all. Sheesh! So glad to know I'm not the only one! :-)

  2. If you love it; keep it. Live with it for a while, and see how it goes.... Maybe you'll paint another one that you love better, and then you can replace it. I hate SELLERS REMORSE -- Once it is gone; it's gone.
